Gold! To kick off the start of the year, we have the Novices Fencing Championships!
Our Men's Epee Individual fencer Jacob Lim (Representing PRCS) fenced with so much spirit and tenacity to claim the gold medal for himself! What is also amazing is that this is the third straight year that our SGF fencers have brought back the gold medal in this event!
The gold rush continues in the Men's Sabre Individual event where Naqeeb (Representing GDL) fenced his way into the finals where he won in an intense final claiming the gold medal and the title!
The medal haul did not stop there as Koning Ona (Representing PRCS) won a bronze medal in the Women's Epee Individual event! She won her opponent in the Top 16 in a close-knit match where she won by the difference of a single point! She proceeded to meet teammate Tayani in the quarter-finals where she secured her place in the semi-finals as well as the bronze medal!
In the team events, our PRCS Men's Epee Team consisting of Jacob Lim, Elroy Quek, Matthias See and Alexander Whitlock fenced consistently from the Table of 16 all the way to the finals where they had a close fight with HCI, narrowly losing with a score of 45-39! This means they earn themselves a silver medal!
In the Men's Sabre Team event, our GDL Men's Sabre Team consisting of Rigo De Villa, Xavier Lee and Naqee Mohamed fenced hard and consistently from the start all the way into the finals claiming the silver medal for themselves!
In the Women's Epee Team event, our BPGH fencers consisting of members Maryam Razak, Nicole Joan D'Souza, Nassir Mohamed and Alyssa Tan fenced and secured their place in the semi-finals and the bronze by winning our PRCS Team A consisting of members Hoo Zi Yu, Koning Ona, Clarice Seng and Mardiah Ismail by sudden-death! Great job to both our teams!
This competition is a great indicator of how our fencers are progressing and given the results, they are doing really well! Congratulations!
